3-Methylglutaric acid (Standard) is the analytical standard for 3-Methylglutaric acid, for research and analytical applications. This non-selective inhibitor of mitochondrial function and Na+, K+-ATPase (30% inhibition on rat cortical synaptosomal Na+, K+-ATPase) induces ROS generation, causing oxidative damage. It inhibits mitochondrial redox potential and cell membrane ion pump function, making it useful for studying neuropathological mechanisms of metabolic diseases and oxidative stress-mediated neuronal damage in neurodegeneration.
