Datasheet

Description

7α-Hydroxy-DHEA (7α-Hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone), a 7α-hydroxylated metabolite of DHEA, is catalyzed by intracellular steroid 7α-hydroxylases like P450 2A1. It exhibits DHEA-comparable biological activity without converting to androgenic or estrogenic compounds. It enhances heat production and reduces food utilization by inducing thermogenic enzymes like mitochondrial sn-glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and cytosolic malic enzyme. As a more efficient and safer DHEA metabolite, 7α-Hydroxy-DHEA shows potential for studying obesity, metabolic diseases, and adrenal carcinoma.
