Datasheet

Description

Desmosterol (Standard) is the analytical standard for Desmosterol, intended for research and analytical use. This cholesterol-like molecule is a direct precursor in the Bloch pathway of cholesterol biosynthesis and is used as an endogenous metabolite for cholesterol metabolism studies. It activates LXR and inhibits SREBP, suppressing macrophage inflammasome activation and preventing vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis. Reduced Desmosterol promotes mitochondrial ROS production in macrophages and NLRP3 inflammasome activation. It holds potential for research in inflammation, metabolism, and cardiovascular diseases.
