DL-Mevalonolactone ((±)-Mevalonolactone; Mevalolactone), the δ-lactone of mevalonic acid, is a mevalonate pathway precursor. This orally active compound combats HMGCR mutation and statin-induced myopathy. It also induces inflammation and oxidative stress, decreasing MMP and causing mitochondrial swelling.
