4-Di-1-ASP is a styryl dye that stains glioma cells in living brain tissue, enabling analysis of cell structure, viability, proliferation, endocytosis, cytokinesis, phagocytosis, and observation of mitochondrial structures. When imaged microscopically, 4-Di-1-ASP fluoresces green (λex /λem = 475/606 nm).
