Monomethyl lithospermate activates the PI3K/AKT pathway, protecting against nerve injury. It improves SHSY-5Y cell survival, inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential (MMOP) breakdown, and suppresses cell apoptosis. It also reduces oxidative stress in rat brain tissue following middle artery occlusion (MCAO) and improves nerve damage in rats with ischemic stroke (IS).
