Description

Mouse MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived polypeptide that regulates pancreatic cell function. It reduces insulin secretion and expression in INS-1E cells while enhancing glucagon secretion and expression in αTC-1 cells. MOTS-c also decreases apoptosis in both cell types and counteracts diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance via AMPK activation.
