Siramesine (Lu 28-179) induces caspase-independent programmed cell death in cancer cell lines by increasing ROS levels and causing lysosomal leakage. Mitochondrial destabilization due to loss of membrane potential and increased ROS is also a proposed mechanism for Siramesine-induced cell death.
