T-Cadinol, a sesquiterpene from C. sylvestris, shows anti-Trypanosoma cruzi activity (IC50s: 18.2 μM for trypomastigotes, 15.8 μM for amastigotes). It induces mitochondrial damage in parasites, causing membrane hyperpolarization and reduced reactive oxygen species. T-Cadinol is useful for Chagas disease research.
