Tauro-β-muricholic acid (TβMCA) is a trihydroxylated bile acid and a competitive, reversible FXR antagonist (IC50 = 40 μM). It has an antiapoptotic effect, inhibiting bile acid-induced hepatocellular apoptosis by maintaining mitochondrial membrane potential.
