Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress Model

Stressful events not only cause depressive symptoms, but also greatly exacerbate existing depressive symptoms. The chronic unpredictable mild stress model is one of the widely used animal models for simulating stress in human life. The stress model is closer to the pathogenesis of human depression, which is durable and stable, and is an ideal and reliable animal model of depression.

Our company has extensive experience in stress modeling and behavioral assessment. We are committed to providing customers with high quality animal models that can stably simulate human stress, and provide reasonable model analysis indicators to provide customers with a complete set of solutions in the research of related diseases.

Introduction of The Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress Test

The chronic unpredictable mild stress model was established by chronically administering experimental animals a variety of mild and unpredictable stress stimuli, resulting in a decrease in the animals' preference for sweetened water. The chronic unpredictable mild stress model uses the detection of pleasure deficits as the key to successful modeling and is a more realistic simulation of life, work stress, and other major depressive symptoms that humans encounter in their lives.

Experimental Flow

We take rats as an example and subject them to chronic, unpredictable mild stimulation for 20 days. The rats were treated with one stimulus each day from the daytime and nighttime, in a randomized order, without consecutive repetitions, so that the rats could not anticipate the appearance of the stimulus.

Days Daytime Nighttime
1 Illumination
2 Electric shock Tilt cage
3 Shake the cage for 10 minutes Wet wood chips
4 Bound for 2 hours Flash
5 Odor 3 hours Fasting
6 Electric shock Overcrowding
7 Icy water swimming Illumination
8 3 hours of solitude Tilt cage
9 Bound for 2 hours Fasting
10 Odor 3 hours Wet wood chips
11 Electric shock 3 hours of solitude
12 Shake the cage for 10 minutes Overcrowding
13 Bound for 2 hours Flash
14 Odor 3 hours Fasting
15 Icy water swimming Tilt cage
16 Bound for 2 hours Overcrowding
17 Shake the cage for 10 minutes Wet wood chips
18 Odor 3 hours Flash
19 Electric shock 3 hours of solitude
20 3 hours of solitude Fasting

Model Analysis Indicators

We will select the appropriate behavioral test method for the customer to analyze the model according to the specific experimental requirements of our customer.

  • Weight test.
  • Sucrose Preference Test.
  • Open field experiment.

Features of The Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress Model

  • Consistent with the characteristics of the predisposing factors of depression (long-term, chronic, low-intensity stressful stimulation).
  • With good apparent validity, construct validity and predictive validity, it is the most recognized animal model of depression.
  • Widely used to study the neurobiological mechanism of depression and is also the most commonly used animal model of depression in the development of antidepressants.

Our company offers professional one-stop services from experimental design to results analysis to bring breakthroughs to your research. We guarantee on-time delivery of test results. If you need, you can contact us at any time.
