Marble Burying Test

The marble burying test is one of the experimental methods used to assess anxiety or obsessive-compulsive behavior.

Our company provides customers with comprehensive customized marble burying testing services with advanced technology platform and experienced testing team, helping customers to be more efficient and time-saving in the development of anti-anxiety drugs.

Experimental Principle

The act of burying is a way for rodents to express anxiety in the face of novelty. When rodents are placed in cages with marbles, they will bury the marbles. When experimental animals were injected with drugs used to treat anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, the amounts of buried marbles decreased, which was considered to be anxiolytic. This experiment is also commonly used in the study of antidepressants.

Experimental Flow

  • The experimental animals were divided into two groups, injected with normal saline and the drug to be tested, respectively.
  • The experimental animals were placed in a standard cage for 30 minutes. The cage is filled with 5 cm deep wood chips, and 10 marbles are evenly distributed in the cage.
  • After 30 minutes, the amount of buried marble was measured. The standard of measurement is two-thirds of the marble is buried by wood chips.

There are multiple variations of the marble burying test. Some experiments use more marbles while other variants place the marbles differently. Our company offers flexible marble burying tests that can be refined to meet the demands of our customers' research and provide them with ideal results.

Applications

The test is sensitive to two main classes of drugs and we can help our customers with a full range of testing services in the following drug screens.

  • Evaluation of selective Serotonin (5-HT) reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
  • Evaluation of benzodiazepines.

Our company offers professional one-stop services from experimental design to results analysis to bring breakthroughs to your research. We guarantee on-time delivery of test results. If you need, you can contact us at any time.
