Y Maze Test

The Y maze experimental model is used to study the spatial recognition memory ability of rodents. Our company can provide our customers with different classic Y maze and improved Y maze testing services, we can choose the most suitable research method according to our customers' experimental needs.

Introduction of Y Maze Test

  • Y maze consists of three identical arms. There is a food offering device at the end of each arm.
  • The spatial memory ability of the experimental animals can be reflected according to the analysis of the animal's strategy of taking food.
  • We offer characterization metrics including, the number and times to enter each arm, the number of times correct, the number of times incorrect, and the route and other parameters.

The Y Maze Test We Provide

We can provide customized Y maze testing services according to the demands of our customers. Here, we mainly introduce Y maze food reward test and Y maze electrical stimulation test.

Experimental Flow Parameter indexes Applications
Y Maze Food Reward Test (1) Training period: blocking the neoisotropic arm, experimental animals were put in from the starting arm and moved freely for 10 min.
(2) Detection period: open the neoisolation arm, the experimental animal was put in from the starting arm and explored freely in the three arms for 5 min and recorded on video.
  • Dwell time of each arm
  • Number of shuttle times for each arm
Hypofunctionality, convergence, spatial cognitive memory
Y Maze Electrical Stimulation Test (1) Screening: select experimental animals that are sensitive and rapid to electric shock response.
(2) Attainment test: test the correct rate of experimental animals escaping from the starting area to the safety area, and reaching 90% is the attainment standard.
(3) Learning test: the correct rate was tested by random rest method, random no-rest method or sequential method.
(4) Memory retention test: the number of correct responses after 24 h, 48 h, 1 week and 30 d of learning test.
  • The number of training sessions required to meet the standard.
  • The number of days required to achieve the standard.
  • The number of incorrect responses.
  • Total reaction time for the whole day.
  • The active avoidance rate.
  • The correct response rate.
  • Correct rate for the whole group.

Features of Y Maze Test

  • Exploits the natural habits of rodent exploration and does not require experimental animals to learn any rules to avoid harm.
  • The experiment is simple and feasible, and can effectively reflect the recognition and memory ability of animals to new and different environments.
