Description

Activate EIF2AK2/PKR in the absence of double stranded RNA (dsRNA) to trigger phosphorylation of EIF2S1/EFI2-alpha, resulting in translation inhibition and apoptosis induction. Essential for DICER1-mediated siRNA production and subsequent post-transcriptional gene silencing through siRNA. Not necessary for pre-miRNA processing into miRNA by DICER1.
