PAI-1
Plasminogen activation inhibitors (PAI) are divided into PAI-1 and PAl-2, among which PAI-1 plays a major role in regulating plasma fibrinolytic activity. PAI-1 is a 47,000 globular single-chain glycoprotein derived from the serine protease inhibitor superfamily and composed of 379 amino acid residues. The protein is synthesized in multiple tissues and cell types, such as liver, spleen, adipocytes, platelets, macrophages, smooth muscle cells, fibroblasts, tumor cells, and endothelial cells.
