HDAC

HDAC

Histone deacetylase (HDAC) is an important type of enzyme in the histone modification process. It can remove acetyl groups from histone residues, change the charge, make the chromosome structure more compact, and inhibit the transcription expression of genes.

Currently, 18 types of HDACs have been found in humans, divided into four categories: class I, II, III, and IV. Therefore, there are four major categories of HDAC inhibitors, namely hydroxamic acids, cyclic tetrapeptides, short-chain fatty acids, and benzamides. HDAC inhibitors are compounds that potentially inhibit proliferation and can induce apoptosis. Therefore, these drugs can be used as potential anti-tumor drugs and as tool drugs for HDAC functional analysis.
