5-Formylcytosines (5-fC) DNA Matched Antibody Pair
Description
5-Formylcytosine (5fC) is a modified pyrimidine nitrogen base derived from cytosine, and it is a recently discovered DNA modification. Similar to the generation of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) by the action of the Tet family of cytosine oxygenase enzymes on 5-methylcytosine (5-mC), it has been observed that the continued activity of Tet proteins on hydroxymethylcytosine leads to the generation of 5-formylcytosine (5-fC) and 5-carboxylcytosine. This conversion process is believed to potentially represent a pathway for DNA demethylation.
