AAV Vector
AAV vectors, short for adeno-associated virus vectors, have become a valuable tool in genetic research due to their unique characteristics. One of the significant advantages of using AAV in research is its replication-limited nature and the fact that it is not known to cause disease in humans. This allows AAV to be handled at lower biosafety levels and generates relatively low immunological effects in vivo. Generally, AAV vectors are capable of transducing both dividing and non-dividing cells with low immune response and toxicity. Although AAV does not integrate into the host genome, it can provide long-lasting transgene expression.
