Description
ADP-ribosyltransferase is an enzyme that facilitates the ADP-ribosylation process of arginine residues within proteins. Mono-ADP-ribosylation refers to a posttranslational modification occurring in proteins, which can be disrupted by various bacterial toxins such as cholera, pertussis, and heat-labile enterotoxins produced by E. coli bacteria. The protein's amino acid sequence primarily consists of hydrophobic N-terminal and C-terminal regions, indicating its characteristic feature as a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein. This gene was previously identified as ART2.
