(-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate, 10 Mg
Description
(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol flavonoid recognized for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory features, poses significant antitumor potential by restraining the activity of telomerase and DNA methyltransferase. EGCG suppresses the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9, thereby contributing to a marked reduction in invasiveness. Furthermore, it impedes the activation of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2). It plays a vital role in the regulation of cancer cell progression, multiplication, transformation, survival, angiogenesis, and apoptosis besides the invasion and metastasis. EGCG also enhances bone mineral density and curtails bone resorption. Its inhibitory effect on osteoclastogenesis is ascribed to the suppression of receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANKL) incited nuclear factor κ B (NF-κB) transcriptional activity. Notably, EGCG exhibits neuroprotective and anti-aging properties and augments myogenic differentiation. Plus, it restrains the activity of fatty acid synthase and glutamate dehydrogenase. EGCG's preventive effects are evident in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders (such as obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia). In vivo studies depict EGCG's impact in diminishing food consumption and body weight, along with serum levels of insulin, leptin, testosterone, and growth hormone.
