PARP

PARP

Poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) is a multifunctional protein post-translational modification enzyme present in most eukaryotic cells. PARP is the cleavage substrate of caspase, a core member of apoptosis. Therefore, it plays an important role in DNA damage repair and apoptosis. It is activated by recognizing structurally damaged DNA fragments and is considered a DNA damage sensor.

PARP inhibitors are drugs that have been launched in recent years and are recommended for the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, and other tumors. Most PARP inhibitors are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and therefore have extensive interactions with other drugs commonly used in cancer patients.
