Features

Investigate specific bacterial 16S rRNA gene variable regions and fungal ITS regions.
The use of "Phased primers" results in improved base and read quality.
The use of low-bioburden reagents helps in reducing background contamination.
Utilizing as little as 1 pg of DNA input is sufficient to profile low-biomass samples.

Product Details

The PROseq 16S/ITS Panels are specially designed for the robust profiling of bacterial and fungal communities as part of the Sample to Insight solution. These panels are aimed at sequencing 16S rRNA and ITS regions on Illumina platforms. They differ from other solutions due to their unique reliance on "phased primers" for improving read and base calling quality and eliminating the necessity for PhiX spike-in. The PROseq 16S/ITS Panels also employ low-bioburden reagents to lower background contamination, scrutinize all 16S rRNA variable regions, and permit low DNA input, thus allowing the study of low-biomass samples.
When used with a PROseq 16S/ITS Index Kit, PROseq 16S/ITS Region Panels provide all the necessary reagents to create libraries from extracted DNA. These region panels can be customized to target 1, 2, or 3 16S variable regions and/or ITS. In order to personalize your PROseq 16S/ITS Region Panel, select a product under the "Ordering Information" tab and click on "Configure".

Applications

The variable region analyzed determines the structure of a bacterial community based on the 16S rRNA gene. For instance, by sequencing variable regions V1V2, V2V3, V3V4, and V4V5, Streptococcus mutans cannot be identified.
