Recombinant Human ACTA2 Protein, N-His
Description
Actin proteins are essential components of the cytoskeleton in eukaryotic organisms. There have been six identified isoforms of actin in vertebrates. The β- and γ-actin proteins present in the cytoplasm are commonly referred to as 'non-muscle' actin proteins, as they are mainly expressed in non-muscle cells where they play a crucial role in controlling cell structure and movement. On the other hand, α-cardiac and α-skeletal actin proteins are specifically expressed in striated cardiac and skeletal muscles respectively. Smooth muscle α-actin and γ-actin proteins are primarily found in vascular smooth muscle and enteric smooth muscle respectively. The α-smooth muscle actin (ACTA2), also known as aortic smooth muscle actin, is responsible for regulating the contractile potential of muscle cells.
