Recombinant Human CXADR/CAR Protein, C-6His
Description
The Coxsackievirus and Adenovirus Receptor (CAR) is a glycoprotein belonging to the CTX family of the Ig superfamily. It is expressed in various tissues including the pancreas, brain, heart, small intestine, testis, and prostate. CAR acts as a receptor for gene transfer and also functions as an adhesion molecule within junctional complexes. These complexes are particularly important between epithelial cells lining body cavities and within myocardial intercalated discs. The structure of CAR consists of an extracellular domain, a transmembrane helix, and a C-terminal intracellular domain. The C-terminal region interacts with several cytoplasmic junctional proteins, microtubules, and the actin cytoskeleton.
