Description
BST2 is a single-pass type II membrane protein that is primarily expressed in the liver, lungs, heart, and placenta. It plays a role in sorting secretory proteins and inhibits the infection of various viruses, including retroviruses, by preventing viral particles from being released from infected cells. Additionally, BST2 may have a role in B cell activation in rheumatoid arthritis.
