Description
Activate signal co-integrator-1 (ASC-1), also known as TRIP4, is a protein that enhances the activity of nuclear receptors involved in gene transcription. ASC-1 interacts with specific components of the RNA polymerase II complex and binds to basal transcription factors TBP and TFIIA. It works together with transcription integrators SRC-1 and CBP/p300 through its zinc finger motif, relying on their ligand-dependent transactivation domain AF2. In HeLa cells, ASC-1 is primarily located within the nucleus. However, during serum starvation conditions, it moves to the cytoplasm.
